Unit 15 LO2: Treatment
Introduction and Purpose
I have chosen to create a film trailer for a fantasy themed adventure, comedy set in England during the late 1800's which takes inspiration from films such as Monty Python and The Holy Grail; the setting being similar to popular fantasy series like Dungeons and Dragons which are played into to fit the comedy and fantasy genre of the film trailer in which the adventure is what is taking place to move the plot forward. The trailer will be around two minutes as I am making a full trailer, not a teaser trailer.
Target Audience
This trailer would be for an intended audience of males aged between 15-25; ABC1 due to references/influences of other media like Dungeons & Dragons which require disposable income to afford. However, the trailer can be accessible to C2DE audiences through uploading it onto YouTube to reach the target, digital native, audience. The full product, which will be outlined on the trailer, will release in fall of 2024.
Trailer Plot Summary
Three adventurers are joined together under a common goal (the three together as fellow adventurers before the film) when given a task from an arch devil named Salazar to defeat the renowned and hated (despite being nameless for a comedic scene) evil arch mage who dwells in the dark city; this city setting will be Sheffield. The party members are Parcival (A warlock), Azrael (a rogue/thief) and Kowalski (A barbarian). However, Salazar is Parcival's patron and therefore, owns his soul and if they complete this quest, Parcival's souls shall be free and the other members will be given what they desire most. In the rogue's case this would be money and for the barbarian, rare cooking ingredients as he's a dedicated chef who wants to always cook something on the journey. This arch devil joins them on their quest as a 4th party member to use the adventurers' journey as marketing material for Warlocks and why people should become them.
This could also be altered for humour in that the warlock has a different patron but risks selling his soul again (despite not having one, claiming he'd have nothing to lose anyways) to this new arch devil if the party is to fail, each again being offered what they most desire.
After the introduction to the film's premise, a montage of various moments from what would happen in the film at various scenes occur such as a battle with another party in which everyone stops what they're doing to roll a dice they all look at together in a high angle, everyone's heads together, to see what number the dice rolls.
